Do you like observing nature? Make your observations count! The City Nature Challenge is an adventure in metropolitan areas worldwide to discover and identify wildlife. We’ll be looking for signs of life in parks, neighborhoods, and backyards to see what plants and animals share our environment.

About the Event
We will meet at the Nature Center. There is NO FEE for entrance to this area. Check out the Occoquan Bay NWR website for information about the park.
We will walk the trails around the Nature Center to look for bugs, plants, and animals.
This activity uses iNaturalist and your phone camera. Learn more about iNaturalist and download the phone app at https://www.inaturalist.org/.
Tips for an outdoor hike:
- Wear sun protection and bug protection.
- Dress in long pants, socks, and closed-toed shoes. Tuck pants into socks. This makes it harder for ticks to find food if they land on us.
- Wear hats, not just to keep the sun off your skin, but to provide another barrier
- Remove outerwear and do tick checks before climbing into vehicles
